As reported by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the agreement with the EU on simplifying the visa regime clearly defines the category of citizens who are entitled to five-year visas. These are journalists, businesspeople, members of official delegations, and relatives of Ukrainian citizens who have the right to reside in EU member states.
The agreement also defines categories of Ukrainian citizens who will not pay for visas at all. According to the minister, these are elderly people, children under 18, students, transporters, and those Ukrainian citizens who are traveling to their relatives abroad. The document sets a visa application processing period of no more than 10 days, a visa fee of €35, and introduces an institution for appealing a visa refusal.
The United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Iceland, and Norway are among the countries to which the signed Agreement on Simplifying Visa Processing between Ukraine and the EU does not apply. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister states that the agreement on a simplified visa regime between Ukraine and the EU will come into force by the end of 2007.
