Deutsche Welle comments on the scientists' conclusions. The first type of recreation includes trips in which the geographical goal itself does not play a special role, since we are talking about fitness, wellness and other modern benefits for soul and body. What matters is not the vacation spot, but the surroundings and mood: nature, sports, massage, cosmetic procedures, meditation, sauna, swimming pool - in general, a resort in its advanced understanding, guaranteeing complete relaxation and distraction from everyday stress.
The second type of recreation - adventure travel - is becoming more and more sophisticated, sometimes turning into feats with an increased risk to life. Previously, tourist packages usually consisted of strictly linked components: flight, specific hotel, service. Now everything can be compiled independently in any combination, choosing even individual elements from different catalogs. Many tourists have begun to use this opportunity to tailor a vacation to themselves. However, there remain quite a few who prefer not to suffer by calculating endless combinations, but to order everything at once and calmly pack their suitcases.
Nevertheless, in recent years, the refusal to travel attracts many former tourists. Having taken a vacation, people prefer to do what they usually don't have time for. This could be trips to the local theater or apartment renovation. Scientists even coined a term - Back-Home-Tourism.
Specialists of the Hamburg Institute, apparently, did not study the traditional type of recreation here - the dacha. If they had taken up this topic, they would undoubtedly have come to the conclusion that the dacha is a creative combination of all five above-mentioned ways of spending a vacation.
