The transition of the crisis from the financial sphere to the real sector of the economy has a significant impact, including on the tourism business. People affected by a sharp decline in income are forced to limit their spending, including on travel and leisure. However, experts are confident that tourism does not need additional stimulus. On the contrary, in the future it will contribute to the revival of the economy as a whole.
The need for travel, holidays and leisure abroad is so ingrained in people's minds that consumers of tourism products are not ready to give them up despite the crisis. This is confirmed by data from 2008. For the period up to the end of August of this year, an increase in the number of foreign trips by 3.8% compared to the previous year was recorded.
In addition, according to Travel.ru, the tourist flow from countries with emerging economies is constantly growing. For example, in 2007, more than 40 million Chinese residents made foreign tourist trips, and even more optimistic forecasts are presented for 2008 and 2009.
