Romantic beaches

Forbes Traveler published a list of the most romantic beaches in the world. In first place is Majahuitas (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico). It can only be reached by water, but it is worth it: there are huts lit by candles on the beach, as well as a small romantic restaurant; in the unusually clear waters you can see a variety of fish.

Second place went to Happy Bay (Saint Martin), where there are no hotels yet, and therefore no crowds of tourists: rare travelers can enjoy white sand, blue ocean waters, and walks through a palm grove. In third place is Flamenco Beach (Culebra, Puerto Rico) – the beach is located near a national reserve where huge pelicans and rare lizards live. In addition, on Flamenco Beach you can see abandoned tanks of the US armed forces, left on the beach back in the 70s. Fourth place was Magens Bay (St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands) - a former pirate settlement, now a white sand beach surrounded by rocks and trees. Fifth is Costa Rica's Corcovado National Park, where you can see monkeys and scarlet macaws.

The list also includes Biarritz Beach (France), Papa Cove (Ios Island, Greece), Seychelles Islands, Bentota Beach (Sri Lanka), and Bora Bora (French Polynesia).

Famous bars

Drawing on famous works by English-language writers, Forbes published a ranking of the world's most famous bars. First place on this list is White Horse Tavern in New York, a favorite haunt of Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. In second place is Algonquin, a New York establishment popular among journalists. In particular, Dorothy Parker was a frequent visitor. Third place went to Heinold's First in Oakland, which Jack London visited over a year.

Also included in the list are Harry's New York Bar (Paris), Bar Hemingway at the Ritz Hotel (Paris), named after its famous customer, Ye Olde Cock Tavern in London, Charles Dickens' favorite haunt, Davy Byrnes in Dublin, where Joyce created his "Ulysses", Eagle and Child in Oxford, where Tolkien debated with Lewis and as a result of these conversations the book "The Hobbit" appeared, Long Bar at Raffles Hotel (Singapore), and Floridita in Havana, frequented by Tennessee Williams and Ernest Hemingway.

Beautiful volcanoes

The same Forbes Traveler published a list of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world. In first place is the active Hawaiian volcano Kīlauea: here travelers can admire bizarrely solidified lava and "lunar" landscapes. Second place went to Mount Liamuiga, located on Saint Kitts: during a sightseeing tour, tourists will drive through centuries-old bamboo forests and swim in a volcanic lake.

In third place is Mount Kilimanjaro, one of Tanzania's most popular attractions, a dormant volcano covered in flows of solidified magma. Fourth place went to Mount Vesuvius. Every year thousands of tourists go to Pompeii and Naples to see the traces of the famous catastrophe. In fifth place is the volcanic massif in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park in Alaska, where sightseeing helicopter flights are organized for tourists.

The list also includes the Zairian volcano Nyiragongo, American Yellowstone, Japanese Shiga, Ambrym on the island of the same name in the Vanuatu archipelago, and New Zealand's Mount Egmont.
