Venice delighted tourists and guests of the city with its traditional unforgettable carnival. Every year, special events are held here, involving several hundred tourists who come to the city on the water from all corners of the world.
This time, as part of the Venetian carnival, more than a hundred events took place, filled with theatrical performances, carnival processions along the streets and water canals of the city, shows, displays of luxurious costumes and masks, as well as masquerade balls held in ancient palaces.
As recently reported in the news, by 2100 Venice may disappear under water. The fact is that the average level of the Mediterranean Sea is gradually rising, and by the end of the 22nd century, scientists predict it will rise by almost one and a half meters. This means that most of the Italian regions could disappear under water.
The reason lies in global warming and the gradual melting of glaciers. The same fate could befall not only Italy but also other countries of the world. At the same time, over the past millennium, the water level has risen by only 30 cm. So hurry to visit the beautiful city on the water before it sinks into the sea depths.
At the same time, in the "Ukrainian Venice," as the town of Vylkove in the Odesa region is called, there is a diametrically opposite problem. This town, popular among tourists, is located on seventy islands separated from each other by a system of canals. Recently, the water in the reservoirs has begun to dry up, and the canals themselves have become shallower.
The fact is that river silt constantly accumulates at the bottom of the channels, which should be regularly cleaned out. If this is not done, the bottom in the channels gradually rises, leading to their shallowing and the impossibility of free water passage.
The town suffers greatly from this. The lack of water could lead to the soil becoming salty here. Moreover, the "Ukrainian Venice" is losing its charm and attractiveness for guests. After all, many tourists come here precisely because of its similarity to the Italian prototype, as well as to travel by boat, relax on the water, and simply go fishing.
