Tourists will be allowed to carry beverages without restrictions

New scanner will relieve air passengers of the need to throw away alcoholic beverages and cosmetics at the airport

According to the latest news, this joyful event for all travelers became possible thanks to the efforts of British scientists. They developed a special portable scanner called INSIGHT 100, capable of quickly determining whether a liquid carried by a person poses a real or potential threat.

Recall that the restriction on carrying liquids on aircraft was first introduced in 2006. This measure was prompted by a series of terrorist attacks. As a result, every European airport required travelers to carry no more than 1 liter of liquids on board, all of which had to be packed in separate containers, each with a volume not exceeding 100 ml. The most annoying part was that even if you bought alcohol or, for example, shampoo at the airport duty-free during a layover, you would lose all purchased items.

However, if today's news is true, with the new INSIGHT 100 scanner, restrictions can be forgotten forever. Strictly speaking, the technology underlying the scanner is nothing new. INSIGHT 100 uses laser spectroscopy, which has been successfully used for decades. The only problem was the bulkiness of such devices, but British scientists managed to solve it.

This event will greatly simplify the baggage screening process, although, of course, some inconveniences for travelers will remain. In any case, every tourist will have to take out all bottles, tubes, and other containers from bags and suitcases, put them into the analyzer device, and then wait for the spectroscopy procedure to finish. But now there will be no need to pour drinks into many small bottles or squeeze toothpaste into special containers. In fact, there is no need to even open the containers.

The use of the new scanner should also significantly increase flight safety. After all, this device can detect not only explosive substances themselves but also the components used to make them, which will prevent terrorists from bringing the necessary chemicals and assembling a bomb directly on board the aircraft.
