Tour operators cancel 'last-minute' tours

Last year, the travel market underwent a serious transformation. Travelers preferred long-haul flights to short trips to Europe – due to the fall of a number of currencies against the euro. A mass closure of tour operators was noted. Moreover, as reported by Travel.ru, in 2008 about thirty global airlines ceased to exist because of fuel prices.

Experts believe that the consequences of the economic crisis in tourism will be felt for a long time. As The Guardian writes, the era of cheap last-minute deals is over. Previously, tour operators were not afraid to let supply exceed demand, so that they could sell tours at a 'last-minute' price if necessary. Now, agencies try to match their capabilities with expectations.
