Tropical Islands Can Be Bought at Half Price

Currently, the agency is selling nine islands located near the Great Barrier Reef (a ridge of coral reefs and islands in the Coral Sea). Prices for the islands range from $962,000 to $67 million.

An island called Long Island was originally listed for $6.5 million, but due to the crisis its price fell by 42%. The other islands have almost halved in price.

It is worth noting that many analysts at the beginning of the crisis stated that luxury real estate would be minimally affected by economic factors. However, the crisis has hit even the most exclusive properties. For example, the mansion of American 'queen of miserliness' Leona Helmsley in Greenwich, put up for sale in early 2008 for $125 million, is now selling for $75 million.

For a long time, no one has bought the famous Fleur de Lys estate in Beverly Hills. According to Lenta.ru, the mansion worth $125 million, along with the Dunnellen Hall estate, took first place in Forbes magazine's ranking of the most expensive residential houses in the world at the end of last year.

According to forecasts from the University of California, Berkeley, housing prices in the elite American resorts of the Hamptons, Lake Tahoe, and Aspen will also fall by at least 20% due to the crisis.
