At the same time, Poland must be crossed within no more than five days. The country's border can be crossed from the moment the visa is valid. In the case of returning from a Schengen area country, Poland must be crossed before the expiration of the Schengen visa. For example, if the visa expires on October 30, a Ukrainian citizen can enter Poland no later than the 25th in order to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border before the visa expires.
The Polish consulate explained that, having a Schengen visa, a Ukrainian citizen is not allowed to stay in Poland for more than five days - a period defined as transit.
As previously reported, in connection with its accession to the European Union, Poland introduced a visa regime for Ukraine on October 1, 2003. Polish consular offices in Ukraine began issuing visas on September 1. Visas for Ukrainians are free, but persons traveling without a guest invitation must have financial security - at least 300 zlotys (about $80) for three days or a credit card. A Polish visa gives the right to enter only the territory of Poland; it does not apply to Schengen area countries.
Five Polish consular offices operate in Ukraine - in Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv, and Lutsk.
