The size of the average salary differs not only depending on gender. Profession, experience, place of work and residence - all play a role. The highest salary level is in Prague. Here on average they receive just over 20 thousand crowns per month. At the very end of the list is Olomouc, the district with the lowest average salary (13.5 thousand crowns).
In Prague there are the fewest people with a salary of less than 10 thousand - 7% of all employed. In the provinces, the share of workers with such a salary is twice as high - about 15%. However, a person is not always ready to commute to work, for example, 25-30 km, even if the salary there is higher. A specialist with a higher education earns three times more than those who have only primary (in the Czech Republic this is nine grades) or secondary education. Holders of a university diploma receive on average 31 thousand crowns, without higher education - on average 10 thousand.
The highest paid in the Czech Republic are commercial directors of firms, heads of banks and judges (from 40 thousand crowns and above). 18-30 thousand per month are usually received by a private doctor, a higher school teacher, managers; 12-18 thousand crowns - a bus driver, cook, accountant; a postman, fish farmer and salesperson are content with 8-12 thousand. And less than 8 thousand are earned by waitresses and cleaners.
MINIMUM WAGE from January 2004 will be 6,900 crowns in the Czech Republic - 700 more than today.
According to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zdenek Skromach, raising the minimum wage will better motivate people to work rather than live on unemployment benefits, which today differ little from the minimum wage.
After the country joins the EU, the Czech Republic will receive a billion crowns from the all-European budget for unemployment benefits. Since the number of workers receiving less than 6,900 crowns per month is currently only 1.3% of the total number of employed, this will not place a heavy burden on employers, the minister is confident.
THE CZECH REPUBLIC IS THREATENED BY A DEMOGRAPHIC DISASTER - the birth rate is falling rapidly in the country. In this indicator in Europe it is surpassed only by Armenia.
If this continues (and nothing indicates the opposite), then in half a century the country's population will halve and reach 5 million people, reports the newspaper MF Dnes. The number of children per woman in the Czech Republic has reached a critical figure - 1.17.
The most successful for the Czech Republic from this point of view were the 1970s. Then twice as many children were born as today. If in the record year 1974, 200 thousand children were born, then last year - only 92 thousand. Therefore, according to scientists, the country is balancing on the brink of a demographic catastrophe.
