In Egypt, there are a large number of hotels with different degrees of "star rating." The number of stars assigned is determined by the local Ministry of Tourism. There are no clear criteria in this regard; subjectivity is present, so two three-star hotels can differ from each other roughly the same way as hotels in St. Petersburg differ from small Russian provincial railway station hotels. The star rating of a hotel is influenced by its appearance, surrounding territory, and the number of services provided.
One of the determining criteria for choosing a hotel is its room type. In Egypt, the predominant room type is the standard room. Such rooms are subdivided into single (Single, this service is 30-60% more expensive); double (Double – for two people, with two separate beds or one double bed for a married couple); Double + extra bed – with a separate rollaway bed for a child. Two standard rooms connected by a common door (Connecting rooms) are convenient for a large family or for a traveling company. There is a type of room called triple, which implies three full beds. The room has everything, including the Internet.
Detached buildings on the hotel grounds with several rooms are bungalows. Booking them may cost extra money. There are also rooms in Egyptian hotels with, so to speak, improved layouts (Suite). This does not mean that instead of one room there will be two, but the room may be more advantageously located, have a large terrace, and have a bathtub rather than a shower.
Well, in five-star hotels there are presidential suites. There are no exact standards; such suites have several bedrooms, a living room, a separate study, several toilets (two or three) and two bathrooms. As an option, there may even be a kitchen and a room for security. There are also hotels with two-story presidential suites.
