Mass psychosis caused by the alleged epidemic of deadly flu has deprived people of reason and made them forget standard anti-flu measures
The autumn of 2009 will be remembered by Ukrainians for an unprecedented number of passersby wearing gauze masks, construction anti-dust masks, or even respirators. Television news broadcasts have deprived citizens of the last remnants of reason, and some wear masks even in their own apartments, fearing the swine flu virus will enter through the window. The opinion that only a metal door and round-the-clock stay at home can save from the virus is spreading like a tsunami.
Oddly, people have completely forgotten that although it is swine flu, it is still the flu. Every year in spring and autumn, the virus overcomes the immunity of thousands of people, but that does not cause panic. Complications that ordinary flu can cause can also be fatal, but for some reason many people 'shake it off' and continue going to work, using public transport daily, thereby increasing the number of cases.
The current 'epidemic' is exclusively a product of television news. Illiteracy combined with the pursuit of sensation has turned the TV into a psychological killer that destroys a person's consciousness in every single home. Instead of thinking for five minutes, people headlong rush to the pharmacy and sweep everything off the shelves: analgesics, antibiotics, vitamins, immunostimulants. The most surprising thing is that few people actually consult doctors—they treat themselves with whatever the guy on TV recommended. Having heard about some foreign drug, people start calling pharmacies non-stop, demanding something that pharmacists have never even heard of.
No matter what kind of flu—avian, swine, or ostrich—the disease prevention measures are always the same. This is not the plague, when a metal door or wooden door, railings, and all items in the house must be treated with vinegar. The virus is transmitted by airborne droplets, so you must first limit your presence in public places. You don't need to take small children to supermarkets and entertainment centers—a child will survive without a new toy somehow. On public transport, at the market, in the store, it is better to wear a cotton-gauze mask. There is no point in wearing it outside—the virus does not fall from the sky or jump into your mouth from trees. If alarming symptoms appear, call a doctor. That's it.
The main thing to avoid is watching news broadcasts. Panic spreads much faster than the flu, and mass stupidity takes much longer and is more difficult to cure. Protect yourself and your children from the trials that politicians and their technologists subject people to.
