In particular, in Stockholm, the drop in apartment prices was four percent. As of today, the average price per square meter in apartment buildings in central Stockholm is 51,210 Swedish kronor ($7,538) per square meter. Apartments in the suburbs of Gothenburg became cheaper by five percent, while in the city center the price remained unchanged. In Malmö, prices fell by three percent.
Prices for private houses, on the contrary, are steadily rising – over three months the average price increased by three percent.
Peter Petsep, head of the real estate agency Svensk Fastighetsformedling, predicts that the gradual decline in prices will continue, but there will be no collapse. According to his forecasts, the 'gap' in price between different types of apartments will also increase. Apartments in well-located buildings with a good management company will become cheaper more slowly than their less attractive neighbors. Petsep also believes that a fall in house prices is not far off.
