According to the businessman, he simply could not believe his eyes when he saw a traffic warden (the name used in Britain for specialized municipal departments that monitor compliance with parking rules) write out a fine notice and stick it on... the cage of one of the rabbits, which had been taken out of Chamberlain's van parked outside a customer's house.
"At first she came up to me with the notice, but I said I hadn't parked yet, so there was nothing to fine me for," says Cliff. "Then she tried to hand the paper to a lad working for me, but he refused, saying he didn't drive at all. And then the warden simply hung the notice on the cage! Isn't that idiotic?! I'm sick and tired of it, and so is the rabbit: his cage doesn't even have wheels!"
A representative of Central Parking System, a private company that monitors parking on local roadsides under an agreement with the municipality, said the incident was being investigated. "I think the notice was addressed to the car, not the rabbit's cage," she said. "And Mr. Chamberlain has the right to contest it."
