Special brigades to combat uncultured behavior will appear in Paris
As reported by RFI, the fight against rudeness will involve former employees of the Paris police prefecture, who became municipal workers on January 1, 2018. On Tuesday, January 9, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo received about two thousand of these new agents at City Hall, who are to combat all manifestations of boorishness and lack of culture.
A fine of 68 euros is provided for a cigarette butt thrown on the ground or a garbage bag left in an unintended place. If a company leaves its waste on sidewalks, it can be fined 1,500 euros.
Fines for this type of behavior were increased by 146% last year. The number of fines issued in 2017 increased several times compared to 2016. For example, for cigarette butts thrown on the sidewalk alone, nearly 22,000 fines were issued (1,216% more than in 2016).
