Visby Programme
The main goal of the Visby Programme (named after the main city of the island of Gotland) is to strengthen academic ties and cooperation between Sweden and Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. Three types of grants are awarded: for project implementation and networking between organizations, individual scholarships, and grants for short-term trips. Application forms can be found at www.si.se.
Project Implementation and Networking between Organizations. The goal is to stimulate long-term cooperation between higher education institutions. Financial support can also be given to initiatives for cooperation in education between academic institutions and organizations working in trade, industry, public administration, culture, and mass media. Funding covers travel and accommodation expenses. It is assumed that participating organizations will pay the salaries of teachers and researchers themselves. Priority is given to projects aimed at developing economic and political reforms and organizational development in the Visby region. Participation of women is encouraged.
The application is submitted by a Swedish or foreign higher education institution. The application must be accompanied by documents confirming the participants' interest in the planned project or trips. Application deadline is March 1 of each year (for the following academic year).
Individual Scholarships. Provided for studying or conducting research at Swedish universities and colleges. Intended for students of basic programs, master's programs, and doctoral students. Awarded for a period from one month to two years. The program the candidate plans to study must be a continuation of their previous level of education. Scholarships are also provided for practical academic research.
Requirements for candidates: good knowledge of English is mandatory. There are no age restrictions. The scholarship will not be given in the following cases: if you have lived in Sweden for two years or more immediately before the date of the scholarship award; you have a residence permit in Sweden; you have a work permit in Sweden but are not an EU citizen. If the above restrictions do not apply to you, you can apply even if you have already studied in Sweden. The scholarship amount is calculated considering the cost of travel to and from Sweden. In addition, accommodation and meals during the study period are covered.
If you want to study in a pre-degree program, a mandatory condition for the scholarship is confirmation of enrollment in the chosen educational institution (a corresponding letter from the administration must be provided). If you plan to study in doctoral courses or conduct research and already have a PhD, follow the application instructions for doctoral students/researchers posted on www.sweden.se. If you intend to study in master's programs, follow the instructions for applying for a Swedish Institute scholarship available on the website. All necessary documents (the list is on the specified website) should be sent along with the application. Application deadline is until March 1.
Grants for Short-Term Trips. Provided to scientists from regions covered by the Visby Programme for conducting research, giving lectures, or participating in scientific conferences in Sweden. Conference organization is not funded. Grants are given for a period of one to two weeks. The grant amount is calculated considering travel expenses and accommodation and meal costs during the trip.
A grant application can be submitted for a maximum of three people. The application form for one participant is the same as for individual grants (available at www.studyinsweden.se). If the application is submitted for several people at once, you must fill out the application form for project support and networking between organizations (available on the website).

Guest Scholarship Programme
Aimed at supporting students who wish to study in master's or doctoral programs at Swedish universities. Applicants of all nationalities except citizens of Scandinavian countries may apply. Scholarships are awarded regardless of the chosen specialization. More information can be obtained on the Swedish Institute website www.si.se.
