The first earthquake with a magnitude of up to 6.7 occurred in central Italy on the morning of April 6. The epicenter was 85 kilometers northeast of Rome, near L'Aquila, the capital of the Abruzzo region. On Tuesday, April 7, aftershocks continued, but the magnitude was lower - from 5.5 to 5.7. As a result of the earthquake, at least 1,500 people were injured, and about 17,000 were left homeless.

As Lenta.ru notes, data on the number of victims is constantly changing. For example, on April 8, Italian media reported that the death toll had risen to 250. In total, rescuers pulled more than 100 survivors from the rubble of houses.

Russian news agencies report that Russians were not injured in the earthquake in Italy.
