Easter market at Schönbrunn Palace, March 28 - April 13, Vienna. Museum Night, March 7, Brussels. Las Fallas Festival, March 12-19, Valencia. Las Fallas is perhaps the craziest and most vibrant event in Spain, known for its unusual and colorful festivals. If you like the smell of gunpowder and flashes of fire, a crowd of merry revelers on the streets and loud music, Las Fallas is for you. The name of the festival is translated from Valencian as "fires". Its culmination is the burning of "ninots" - large dolls made of papier-mâché, wood or plaster. Ninots usually depict some obscene scenes, politicians or celebrities and ridicule topical problems of Spanish and not only society. Ninots can be very tall, so that their installation requires the use of a mobile crane. However, ninots are not all that can be seen during Las Fallas. 28th Jazz Terrassa Festival, March 5-29, Terrassa. This year the festival will feature 275 musicians giving 42 concerts (16 of them free). The public will be treated to performances by French guests Jean-Luc Ponty, Richard Galliano, Paolo Fresu from Italy, Swedish Jeff Lundgren, German Alexander von Schlippenbach and his Monk's Casino, Eri Yamamoto and her Japanese trio, and many others. Rome Marathon, March 22, Rome. The spring marathon in Rome is the largest mass sports event in Italy.
