International recruitment agency Manpower has prepared a hiring forecast in 33 countries around the world, grouped by region. As reported by Lenta.ru, in the fourth quarter of this year, companies in 29 countries will increase their workforce, while in three countries firms plan to reduce the number of jobs.
Among the countries of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the employment outsider will be Spain, whose employers in the fourth quarter plan to cut the number of jobs by 9%. In the same period last year, the growth in hiring in this country was 9%.
Things will be slightly better with employment in the UK, where the number of jobs will decrease by only one percent. Last year, hiring growth in this country was 13%. Norway rounds out the top three, where 8% new jobs will be created compared to last year's 18%.
In the last quarter of 2008, Peru will become the worst country for employment among the countries of South and North America. According to the agency's forecast, the growth in hiring new workers in this country will be 29%, compared to 55% a year earlier. In the third quarter of 2008, this figure was 40%.
Second place among the worst countries for employment on the American continent was taken by the United States. Here, in the fourth quarter of this year, the growth in hiring will be 9% compared to 18% a year earlier. Third place went to Mexico, where in the last quarter of 2008 the number of jobs will increase by 15%. Last year, this figure was 21%.
Among the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, it is not worth looking for work in Singapore. The number of jobs in this country in the last three months of this year will grow only by 16% compared to 49% in the previous year. Second and third places in the region went to New Zealand and Japan, where hiring growth will be 9% and 8% respectively.
