First, about the advantages of shopping abroad.
Where are the world's fashion centers located? Correct: in France, Italy, Great Britain, and the USA. The fashion industry originates from there. All fashion trends appear there first, and it is hard to tell when they will reach our compatriots. So for those who prefer to stay on the fashion wave, it makes sense to take shopping tours to boutiques in the fashion capitals to always look super modern and stylish.
If you know the periods when large sales occur in different countries, you can time your vacation or take time off work accordingly. Then you can enjoy both acquiring new items and significant savings.
By the way, another advantage of foreign shopping is the opportunity to combine trips to shopping centers with sightseeing in a particular country. Almost all European countries open their sales season during the Christmas holidays. Boutiques in Paris and Milan offer trendy items at prices significantly lower than initially stated – sometimes discounts reach 60-70%! It makes sense to study the schedule in advance to buy tickets in time.
In the United States, sales start a little earlier – before Christmas. At this time, unimaginable discounts are not uncommon – many items can be bought for just 10% of their original price! And the Outlet Centers chain of shopping malls even in regular season offers high-quality goods at prices traditionally 20-25% lower than in other supermarkets.
Canada's largest sales, the William Ashley Warehouse Sale, take place from mid-November to early December.
In London, the best discounts are in July.
In Dubai, tourists try to visit during the famous Shopping Festival (usually in January-February, dates are floating). In 2010, it will start on January 28 and end exactly one month later. Another one, 'Summer Surprises', runs from roughly mid-June to mid-August.
Now about what to buy where. Fashion clothing is clear. Gold jewelry is best bought in the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus, high-quality leather goods in Argentina and Brazil, cosmetics from Dead Sea products in Israel, precious stones in Australia and Brazil, fur coats in Greece.
