When going on any trip, you need to prepare a travel first aid kit in advance.
First, you need to determine exactly where you are going (within your home country, abroad, to the sea), by what means (a long train journey or a short flight), and with whom (some medications are contraindicated for children under a certain age or for pregnant women). Depending on these criteria, the composition of the first aid kit can vary greatly.
The first thing I always take with me, especially if a long train ride is ahead, is a disinfectant for treating the skin of the hands (a so-called skin antiseptic), since it is not always possible to wash your hands. You can take, for example, "Septustin-Antisept", "Alseptan", "Maxi-Sept Aqua".
Remember! These products are used only on intact skin – they cannot be applied to wounds or mucous membranes.
The second thing that is always in my first aid kit is an antiseptic, for example, miramistin, chlorhexidine aqueous solution (but never an alcohol-based one). Do not take everything at once. Take just one. These products can be used to treat any wounds not only on the skin but also on mucous membranes – for example, to rinse the mouth for stomatitis or to treat inflammation or diaper rash of the genital mucous membranes in children and under the foreskin in boys.
A pain and fever reliever is the third thing that must be taken on the road. I prefer universal medications for all ages: paracetamol and nurofen (ibuprofen). These medications are available in tablet and liquid forms. So, if a child or adult has a high fever (usually above 38.5°C), ear pain, or sunburn, first give paracetamol or nurofen.
Remember! Abdominal pain should not be relieved with painkillers until a doctor prescribes them.
