On January 1, 2009, Slovakia will switch to the European currency. Until January 16, prices will be displayed in both euros and korunas, with the euro price listed first. Customers paying with national currency will receive change in the European currency.
The exchange rate of the Slovak national currency against the euro, set by EU finance ministers, will be 30.126 at the beginning of August.
As Travel.ru notes, Slovakia will become the fourth country to adopt the European currency among the nations that recently joined the European Union. It was preceded by Slovenia, Cyprus, and Malta.
