"We have been participating in tourism exhibitions for many years and are pleased to note the ever-growing interest of Ukrainian tourists in Montenegro. On the other hand, residents of Montenegro have an interest in Ukraine. First of all, this is winter recreation. I believe that Ukraine surpasses Switzerland in its natural conditions, and if there is also appropriate service, then winter recreation in the Carpathians will become simply a miracle. I also find excursion tourism very promising. For example, we organize children's tours to Transcarpathia. The fact is that many of our citizens have roots in Ukraine, so they are very interested in touching their origins. Our peoples have long been connected by friendship and cordial relations. Our embassy in Ukraine contributes in every possible way to strengthening ties between Ukraine and Montenegro. When our office was opened in Uzhgorod, a revival of tourist activity was immediately felt. I am pleased to present my country to Ukrainian tourists."
The undoubted advantage of Montenegro can be considered the magical Adriatic. Anyone who has not seen this sea cannot imagine its amazing beauty. Montenegro is a small country, only 14 thousand square kilometers, but it is very picturesque and has preserved beautiful nature. By the way, Montenegro is a country of green mountains. And they are called black because of the olive trees, whose trunks are black. But in fact, you will be greeted by emerald lush thickets. You will see mountains covered with dense forest, and picturesque small sea coves with clean fine sand. You can swim in the azure Adriatic Sea from May to October. By the way, the sea off the coast of Montenegro is recognized as one of the cleanest in Europe: water transparency here reaches 55 meters. The beaches are very different: sandy, with fine and large pebbles.
The advantages of recreation in Montenegro include its intimacy, the absence of a too noisy and crowded recreation industry. Although the choice is large - from beautiful modern hotels to small family boarding houses and villas. The absence of visas allows you to implement a trip within a few days."
And Montenegro is also a unique country. It is home to the largest fjord in the Mediterranean, the most famous nudist center in Europe - Ada Bojana, the largest canyon in Europe and the third most important shrine of the Orthodox world (after Jerusalem and Mount Athos) - the Ostrog Monastery, which is visited by pilgrims of different faiths.
Interested? Then let's talk about recreation in Montenegro in more detail. Montenegro is a modest country. However, recreation in Montenegro (it is under this elegant name that Montenegro is known in the West) has long been considered the privilege of aesthetes, philosophers and aristocrats. Byron and Andre Maurois, Alberto Moravia and Indira Gandhi visited here. World celebrities rested and continue to rest here - Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Claudia Schiffer, Sylvester Stallone. And Bernard Shaw, having visited the famous Bay of Kotor, wrote to his wife: "I greet you from the most beautiful corner on earth." Back in 1935, the beach of the Becici resort, which is three kilometers from Budva, was recognized as the best in all of Europe. To this day, tourists from all over the world take home colorful pebbles as souvenirs. The entire coast in Becici is covered with unique colored pebbles, which shimmer like fairy-tale gems in the foam of the surf under the sun's rays.
The most famous Montenegrin resort is Great Beach, which is located in the south of the country in the city of Ulcinj. There, on the island of Ada, on an area of 600 hectares, there is a beach very popular among nudists from all countries. The Budva Riviera, which begins in the cozy town of Petrovac, is famous. The landmark of the Budva Riviera is rightfully considered Sveti Stefan - a town built on a small island connected to the shore by a sandy spit. It consists entirely of separate houses and villas. Not far from Sveti Stefan are the beaches and Milocer Park. These places were once part of the territory of the palace of the Serbian royal family. Here is also one of the most beautiful beaches of the Adriatic coast - Queen's Beach.
It is also worth mentioning separately the Herceg Novi Riviera. Here you can combine recreation with treatment thanks to the famous health center Igalo. This is a large medical and health institution where rheumatism and arthritis, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases are successfully treated. Sea mud and mineral waters are used to treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system. All this, combined with swimming and sunbathing, makes recreation on the Herceg Novi Riviera pleasant and useful.
In Montenegro you can see canyons of exceptional natural beauty - Mrtvica, Moraca, Susica. By the way, the canyon on the Tara River is considered the deepest in Europe and the second in the world after the Grand Canyon. And if you want to admire almost all of Montenegro, go on the excursion "Mini Montenegro Tour". Lovers of active recreation will enjoy boat trips, rafting on the Tara River, and mountain hiking.
You can visit unique places: ancient fortresses and monasteries, among which is the miraculous monastery of St. Basil of Ostrog, a string of mountain lakes, the heart of which is considered the protected Lake Skadar, many historical and cultural monuments. The small country has carefully preserved the monuments of its centuries-old history.
Gourmet tourists will not be offended either - in Montenegro they love to eat deliciously. Among the most notable dishes of Montenegrin cuisine is their famous fish goulash made from various types of fish. Smoked bleak fish is also good, especially with red wine. And in Montenegro they also love ham, especially with lozovac - local grape moonshine. They say that the special taste of ham is given by the fact that the pork is dried high in the mountains, where the air is cleanest and the aroma of mountain herbs. But the highlight of Montenegrin cuisine is rightfully considered kajmak - sheep's milk melted in an oven. It is added everywhere and eaten with everything. Especially tasty will be pork or lamb stewed in kajmak.
And also, remember, the first commandment of a Montenegrin sounds like this: «A man was born tired and must rest». So, a great rest awaits you in Montenegro!
