According to the Salary Book published by the Department of Economics and Labor of the Canton of Zurich, Swiss chief physicians and diplomats earn on average more than 13,000 francs per month, while the salaries of hairdressers and taxi drivers do not exceed 4,000 francs
Those who want to earn excellent money should become diplomats, as the minimum salary of the head of a mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is 13,555 francs (the best indicator in the country). In second place are directors of air traffic control services (13,106 francs) and chief physicians (12,888 francs, 3.6% less compared to 2006), reports Nashagazeta.ch citing the newspaper Tribune de Genève.
At the bottom of the list are taxi drivers with a minimum monthly salary of 3,200 francs. It is worth noting that the work of a taxi driver is paid increasingly worse, with remuneration falling by 15% since 2006. Interestingly, taxi drivers are not the only ones earning less than 4,000 francs in Switzerland. They are joined, among others, by cleaning staff (3,422 francs), livestock breeders (3,500 francs), and farmers (3,800 francs).
Another interesting trend: for some professions, wages have increased significantly, especially for those that were among the lowest paid in 2006. Civil servants or employees working in the public sector also pocket more money than a few years ago.
There is reason to rejoice for primary school teachers. Their minimum salary has increased by 36.4% over 12 years to 6,981 francs, showing growth significantly above average.
The author of the Salary Book, Jean-Marc Jung, admitted that upon finishing the hefty volume, he felt an amazing sensation similar to the feelings of a sculptor admiring his creation. He does not envy those who earn more than him, as he is confident that they are paid according to their work.
A few more professions: a pharmacist earns 6,900 francs per month, a car mechanic – 4,450, an assistant doctor – 7,473 (an increase of 24.1% since 2006), a baker – 4,000 (+17.9%), a credit manager – 10,192, a civil engineer – 6,288, a human resources officer – 8,192, a bookseller – 4,000, a business analyst – 8,077, a hairdresser – 3,800, a tailor – 3,740, a dental assistant – 3,700, a midwife – 6,229 (+32.9%), a kindergarten teacher – 4,977, a cook – 4,120, a farmer – 3,800, a painter – 4,340, a butcher – 4,070, a nurse – 5,539, an IT project manager – 7,992, an emergency doctor – 4,977 francs.
