For five weeks, starting January 7, all stores in the French capital will reduce prices by up to 70% (not forgetting that tourists from non-European Union countries can also expect a 12% tax refund). Moreover, it doesn't matter where you shop – in large department stores like Galeries Lafayette or Printemps, or in monobrand boutiques – discounts can be found everywhere.
To make it easier for shopaholic tourists, the Paris tourist office has developed five routes based on five individual styles: classic (timeless elegance), trendy (at the peak of fashion), bobo-chic (bohemian, truly Parisian style), creative (promoted by young designers), and 'world fashion' (for those who even in clothing adhere to the ideas of 'globalism').
From the start of the sales, brochures describing shopping routes will be sold at kiosks located in the main shopping districts of Paris: Abbesses, Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Saint-Paul, Madeleine, and Palais Royal. The tourist office will also publish the 'Shop Guide' for 2009 – the most complete collection of addresses and descriptions of Parisian stores, Travel.ru reports citing France Guide.
In addition, about 300 hotels and restaurants throughout the city will offer guests discounts and special offers. This will allow you to save money on your stay in Paris – to spend it in stores.
