New design of Schengen visa
The regulation will most likely be approved by the Council and the European Parliament in early July, after which it will be published in the Official Journal of the EU. The decision will enter into force on the twentieth day after publication. EU countries must implement the new visas no later than 15 months after the adoption of the changes.
In addition, the publication on the EU Council website states that the changes will not affect Ireland and the United Kingdom, but upon request of these countries, they will be provided with the necessary technical information regarding the format of their national visas.
Recall that with a Schengen visa today you can enter 26 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia. Citizens of Ukraine and Georgia have recently been able to visit these countries without a visa using a biometric passport.
