Save on Your Flight

Charter flights serve many tourist destinations

When buying a tour to a popular trendy resort, many have heard the word 'charter', subconsciously understanding it as some sort of benefit. This is indeed true – a charter flight is very advantageous, since such a flight is significantly cheaper than buying a ticket on a regular flight. Why?

Let us try to explain with an example. Having decided, for example, to go to Turkish Antalya, you go to the airline ticket offices or go to the official website of the airline and find a schedule valid for a very long period – six months, or even a year. It turns out, you can buy a ticket for a very long period? You can, but there are pitfalls.

Since the rigid flight schedule cannot be quickly changed, it may happen that during certain periods of the year or on certain routes it will be impossible to fill the plane with passengers, and the airline will incur losses. These potential losses are included in the ticket price, increasing its cost.

Nature abhors a vacuum. If there is a possibility to determine peak times – in Russia these are the summer vacation season, New Year and May holidays – why not get rid of the schedule, and send the maximum number of flights precisely in these periods? There is another subtlety. For example, some beach resorts or ski resorts operate for a short period during the year and there are no regular flights there at all.

These factors were the basis for the creation of charters – flights that operate on demand at a specific time and on a temporarily mass route. They have no rigid schedule, and there is much less risk of the plane flying half-empty. Less risk – lower ticket price. This is the advantage of a charter.

A charter is an agreement between an airline and a lessee, which is most often a large tour operator. You can rent part of the seats on the plane or lease an aircraft for a certain period. In the case of charter flights, tickets are sold not to the passenger, but to tour operators who order the flight. By the way, regular airlines also operate charter flights, but they are not considered charter companies.

There are charter companies that transport individual passengers or small groups, for example, to ports from which cruise ships depart, to ski resorts, exhibitions, festivals, congresses, meetings, and even business negotiations. Special charters are used by pilgrims going to Holy places, artists or musicians on tour, or sports teams that need to get to the competition venue.

The tour package that a tourist buys includes, in addition to the cost of the hotel, meals and excursion services, also the price of a charter flight ticket, which is always cheaper than a ticket on a regular airline. It should be known that tickets for charter flights can be purchased without a tour package by contacting a specialized company that sells airline tickets for charters. In this case, you will be able to significantly reduce the cost of the flight.
