Experts named Finland the happiest country in the world
When compiling the ranking, specialists considered six factors: GDP per capita, life expectancy, generosity, social support, as well as freedom and corruption in terms of their influence on making important life decisions.
According to analysts, the reason for the large number of happy people in Finland lies in the government's experimental approach to creating well-being in the country. As follows from the report, Finland is now among the richest countries in the world in terms of GDP per capita. The maternal mortality rate in the country is one of the lowest on the planet, and levels of poverty and crime are also low. At the same time, the state monitors the health of each of its citizens from birth to death using a personal identification code – such a practice has been used since the 1960s.
Experts also recognized Finland's education system as a successful experiment: children study outside the classroom, they are given great freedom of movement around the school, work in any place convenient for them, each child has an individual lesson plan corresponding to their needs, the report says.
The report was timed to coincide with the International Day of Happiness, which is celebrated worldwide on March 20.
