The Russian capital turned out to be the least suitable city for a luxurious lifestyle. In Moscow, writes Forbes, the price of a cup of coffee in a prestigious restaurant starts at $10. Moreover, the Russian capital has more billionaires than the other seven cities in the ranking. Forbes also notes that hotels in Moscow are too expensive – a suite at the Ritz Carlton can be rented for only $5,000, while in London a room of the same class in this hotel chain will cost $2,750 per night.

In fifth place was New York. The compilers of the ranking explained that almost all goods of the 'premium class basket' are supplied here from Europe, and the dollar-to-euro exchange rate and taxes make such purchases not very profitable. Sixth place went to Hong Kong, where imported luxury goods are also subject to taxes and duties at a higher rate.
The penultimate place in the list of the most favorable cities for luxury living went to London. For example, a Rolls-Royce Phantom in the UK sells for $510,000, while outside it – for $349,700. Moreover, the compilers of the ranking point out that London has one of the highest value-added taxes among the cities mentioned in the list – 17.5%.
