More than two thousand people have signed up for 36 places at the plumbing school in Bristol. All of them are gladly willing to shell out £630 for the course. Lessons will begin in September, but already now Bristol Technical College must determine the names of the students. To be fair, it was decided to allocate places on the course on a first-come, first-served basis.
Among the potential plumbing masters are butchers, laborers, and even businessmen. The latter include Rob Thompson from the city of Bath. “I don’t think I’ll be working in the financial sector in 10 years, so I decided to quit business right now. I’ve always wanted to be a plumber. They travel a lot, and as far as long-term prospects are concerned, this trade is very profitable,” says Thompson.
