The company explained such strange measures as an effort to expedite boarding and adhere to the schedule, strict compliance with which is critical for them because their business relies on quick aircraft turnaround, often spending only half an hour on the ground from landing to takeoff. The hidden motive is a desire to earn more money from checked baggage transport, which costs up to €25 per bag at Ryanair.
