"Developing a state program for the resettlement of compatriots - CIS citizens to Russia, there is a need to consider resettling them to the Far East, and in particular to Kamchatka," the presidential envoy said in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Kamil Iskhakov believes that Kamchatka needs a large number of people "who will begin to develop these lands" and boost local production. "However, we need to do a lot to make Kamchatka more attractive for life," the envoy noted. In his opinion, the fishing industry of Kamchatka Oblast could become investment-attractive. "This is a cost-effective production where fish catching and processing are well-established, and there are excellent social facilities. This is a good example of how the fishing industry can develop," Iskhakov stressed.
At the end of last year, Speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov stated that Russia intends to return 25 million compatriots living in the near abroad. "Russia must definitely attract labor migrants, but not only. I believe that we should attract all compatriots, citizens of the USSR, to Russia. These are our people!" Mironov declared.
Meanwhile, the Federal Migration Service reported that preparation of the program for the resettlement of compatriots is already underway. It is planned to attract CIS citizens (namely, ethnic Russians willing to move and work in the Russian Federation) who have qualifications in demand in Russia - teachers, engineers, doctors - for permanent residence in Russia.
