Recall that the quota system for labor migrants was introduced in 2008. Initially, the quota was 1.8 million people, but it was exhausted by the end of the first half of the year. Regions have already asked the government to increase the quota to 3.2 million people. The government is to consider this issue in early October.
In July 2007, the newspaper "Vedomosti" wrote that the quota system for labor migrants from the CIS could be replaced by special monitoring of the labor market. It is the CIS that accounts for the majority of migrants in Russia.
