The ranking of the highest-paid professions in the Czech Republic is topped by air traffic controllers
Based on the published data, Trexima compiled rankings of the highest- and lowest-paid professions in the republic. It refers to the "gross" salary (before tax deduction). Moreover, its median is given – the indicator in the middle of the range (the income level above and below which an equal number of workers in that profession earn).
That is, if one company pays an accountant 10,000 crowns, another 20,000, and a third 60,000, then the average salary in this profession would be 30,000, and the median salary would be 20,000 crowns. The median salary more accurately reflects the income of workers on average across the country.
According to the published report, the average median salary in the country increased by 7.3% over the year and amounted to 26,037 crowns. The highest earners were air traffic controllers – 194,835 crowns per month. Among the highest-paid professions in the Czech Republic in 2017 were also top managers and leading executives of large companies (162,750 crowns per month), deputy production and technical directors in IT (105,743), executives in advertising and public relations (102,751), chief physicians (100,684), personal assistants to directors (87,189), deputy commercial directors (78,520 crowns per month).
The lowest earners were waiters – 13,335 crowns per month. However, experts note that in reality, workers in this profession earn significantly more, receiving part of their salary "in envelopes." Many restaurant owners traditionally resort to such a scheme unfavorable for employees in an effort to save on social and insurance contributions.
