Slovakia has all the necessary conditions for the development of ecotourism
In recent years, ecotourism has become a very popular type of recreation. Slovakia is one of the countries where ecological and agricultural tourism is developing very rapidly, because this country has all the necessary conditions for this.
Diverse ecotourism in Slovakia is based on the natural environment of national parks, as well as special zones: a wine region and eco-settlements. There is a large number of ecotourism strongholds in the country, namely 16 protected natural areas and 9 national parks. The most visited among them are the Low Tatras, Tatra National Park, Malá Fatra, as well as Pieniny National Park and Slovenský Raj.
Tatra National Park is a small mountain range among the highest mountains in the world. The High Tatras have a large number of natural lakes with crystal clear glacial water. The area has developed ski recreation and excursion programs.
The Low Tatras National Park is the second highest mountain range in Slovakia. The slopes of the mountain peaks are covered with coniferous forests. The region is very picturesque. The Tatras are a magnificent place for health excursion walks or ski recreation.
Malá Fatra is a unique natural complex that combines breathtaking beauty of mountain panoramas, natural waterfalls and ski routes convenient for athletes and amateurs.
Pieniny National Park is more miniature in size than other reserves in Slovakia. The nature of the region is very picturesque: fir and beech plantations and an ecologically clean source – the Dunajec River. The river is a natural habitat for trout and Danube salmon. Tourists who choose Pieniny for recreation will be able to go rafting along the most majestic canyon in Europe.
Of particular interest for ecotourism is the protected area of Slovenský Raj, which is located in eastern Slovakia. The park's sights can conquer the heart of any person who steps on this land: canyons, caves (of which there are more than 350), waterfalls and majestic gorges. The fauna and flora of the park are very diverse: more than 200 species of rare animals and about 930 species of plants.
Slovakia is one of the recognized centers of winemaking. Moreover, winemaking in Slovakia has deep historical roots, one of which is the Malokarpatský region. Among the wine villages, one can highlight Vajnory, where, in addition to tasting wonderful wine, you can listen to a brass band. No less famous is the village of Limbach, famous for its amazing wine – Limbachský Silvan. The annual wine festival takes place in the town of Pezinok, and all national winemaking competitions are also held there.
Amazing beauties of Slovakia provide wonderful opportunities for ecotourism. Unique mountain, forest and cultural attractions will give everyone amazing impressions of recreation and allow one to realize oneself as part of nature.
