Ukrainian students use every opportunity to work part-time abroad
The European Union countries, to the best of their ability, help Ukraine and its citizens, particularly students, stabilize the labor market situation. Thus, Germany, through the German Federal Employment Agency as part of the 'Work in Germany' program, offers Ukrainian students who have a good command of German the opportunity to work part-time during the summer holidays in tourist areas, in the agricultural sector, or in the hotel and restaurant business in Germany.
This kind of work in Germany for Ukrainians will become their first step on the path to introducing European standards into domestic tourism, agriculture, and hotel and restaurant sectors.
What requirements are imposed on applicants and what must be considered when applying?
– plan expenses in the amount of 600-850 euros plus travel costs (about 1000 UAH);
– the applicant must meet the age requirements – from 18 to 25 years old;
– must have student status, but not of the last year of full-time study;
– must be able to work for at least two months.
If you meet these requirements, you can receive an official contract with a German employer; a standard work schedule (8 hours a day or a 40-hour work week); a salary from 800 to 1800 euros per month (overtime hours are paid separately). Students are provided with housing and meals, as well as a two-week vacation for travel in Germany and countries that have signed the Schengen Agreement.
A similar program 'Work in France' – work in France for youth studying at Ukrainian universities – costs a bit more (about 1100 euros). Under this program, Ukrainian students who have an excellent level of spoken French and especially knowledge of terminology (in accordance with your specialty) in French will be able to gain work experience of European quality.
Unfortunately, this kind of internship, if it does not exceed three months, is unpaid. However, an undeniable advantage is the experience gained, which will later become a strong argument for domestic employers in deciding whether to hire you in Ukraine. Besides, three months in Paris – what could be better?
If you have the opportunity to intern in France for more than three months, you will be able to receive a monthly intern salary of 400 euros. Work (internship) is offered to Ukrainian students in the fields of finance, marketing, communications, hotel and advertising business, and the arts. The applicant will need:
– to be a full-time university student;
– the work must correspond to the specialty of study at the university;
– impeccable knowledge of French;
– money for accommodation and meals in France (these costs are not included in the program);
– money for airfare and airport transfer;
– ability to pay for health insurance in the amount of 13 euros per week;
– age from 18 to 35 years old.
