You can open a window into the world of night butterflies in Amsterdam.
The cost of such an event is 22 euros per person, including the guide's fee and one drink of choice in one of the local bars. The duration of the tour is about two hours, and it is usually held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the evening.
The tour starts at the prostitutes' information center. Here you will be given a short lecture on the history of the District, after which everyone is given the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
After leaving the information center, you and your guide will head to the famous district De Wallen – one of the three red light districts. The route goes along the most dangerous streets of the Dutch capital in the past, one of which resembles the streets of present-day China – this is Zeedijk.
Along the way, you can feast your eyes on a variety of girls – blondes and brunettes, Europeans and Africans, young and not so young. Dressed in short mini dresses and other provocative outfits, the ladies of the oldest profession stand in the openings of large windows arranged in a row along each street. Sometimes, peering into such windows, you can see the interior of a small room where a girl who has just finished with a client, wearing a sheer peignoir, is tidying up. And drawn curtains and a lit red lantern mean that the girl is currently working and cannot receive other clients.
However, the real-life show with prostitutes is not the only attraction of the Red Light District. There are also themed monuments here, one of which is erected in honor of the representatives of the oldest profession. According to the guides, this monument, which is the world's first monument to a prostitute, was unveiled in a very solemn atmosphere, with the participation of the mayor and fireworks.
Another monument is even more original, depicting a man's hand on a woman's breast. It is said that if you climb onto the monument and stand on it for a while, your personal life will turn out for the best.
Any monuments and buildings in the District can be photographed completely freely, just don't try to capture any of the girls – they have a very cold attitude towards such actions and may even take away your camera. Otherwise, during the entire tour, you don't have to worry about safety. The tourist group is accompanied by several bodyguards, whose mere appearance instills fear in all suspicious elements.
