Snow cover sets in November and lasts until early May, but the terrain is so complex that even in midsummer there are several mountain valleys and gorges with unmelted snow. As a rule, ski trails are laid along them. The sun in the Elbrus Region is especially generous, it pours light and warmth for 4/5 of the year; if you want to get a bronze tan in February, come to the slopes of Elbrus and Cheget!
The local climate is healing for many respiratory diseases and allergies of various types. The thin mountain air is very beneficial for asthma, and thermal mineral waters contribute to the overall healing of the body. Widely known are the "Glade of Narzans", Irik springs, Adyl mineral waters. According to experts, the healing properties of the local mineral water are not inferior to the waters of Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, or Yessentuki.
And yet, the greatest fame of the Elbrus Region comes from the ski trails on the slopes of two mountains: double-headed Elbrus (5621 m), a volcano extinct in time immemorial, and Cheget (3650 m). These two zones are modern ski complexes equipped according to global standards.
Interestingly, beginner skiers are recommended to ride the slopes of the highest peak in Europe, Elbrus, while the lower Cheget is conquered only by ski aces. Multi-kilometer trails operate from mid-autumn to late spring, and in some areas you can ski year-round. T-bar lifts mainly serve beginner trails; beautiful chairlifts lead to high-altitude areas.
