The Land of the Rising Sun has allowed Russians a simplified visa procedure
The agreement on easing the visa regime was signed back on January 28, 2013, and obtaining a visa to Japan for free for 10 working days will become possible from October 30, after the completion of the exchange of written notifications between the parties. According to japan-reporter.ru, from that date, individuals and organizations can issue official invitations with the possibility of issuing multiple-entry visas valid for up to three years, subject to several conditions.
Changes will also affect business visas. From the end of the month, representatives of business structures of both countries may not provide so-called 'invitations'. Such a visa can be issued for 90 days. Another innovation – the countries will introduce a system of multiple-entry visas valid for three years.
At the same time, the procedure for the consular fee has been stipulated, which under the new rules amounts to between four and ten thousand yen (equivalent to 1.4 thousand – 3.5 thousand rubles). It is noted that the consular fee can be charged only when urgent visa issuance is required.
Experts note that these relaxations apply not to all categories of tourists, but only to entrepreneurs and businessmen, scientists and representatives of the creative intelligentsia, children under 21 years of age, athletes, and children who are going to visit their parents. The agreement also specifies a list of documents required to obtain a visa (for example, businessmen must provide an official invitation).
According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the simplification of visa procedures will contribute to strengthening friendly ties, developing cooperation, and intensifying exchanges between Russia and Japan.
