Polish companies willingly hire Ukrainians: out of 411 thousand applications for intention to employ foreigners, 98% concern our compatriots

In the first half of 2015, 70% of Polish employers from these three sectors filed applications for intention of short-term employment of foreigners. According to Polish law, in the case of an employee who is not an EU citizen and does not have a "Karta Polaka" (a document confirming membership in the Polish nation), the employer must obtain permission from the Office for Foreigners to hire them.
The total number of such applications to the Office in 2015 grew to 411 thousand. This figure is double the data for the same period last year. 98% of applications for intention to employ foreigners in Poland concern Ukrainians.
According to Krzysztof Inglot from Work Service, many companies in logistics or industry are interested in workers from Ukraine. The reason is a shortage of personnel, as Poles are massively leaving for work in Germany, Norway, and other Western European countries.
For those interested, work in Poland vacancies 2016 are offered by many specialized firms, including the "Alliance Group" Agency. The agency has hundreds of vacancies for drivers, builders, maids, furniture makers, and general laborers at various enterprises located throughout Poland.
As Professor Maciej Duszyk of the University of Warsaw reminds, the conflict in Ukraine has caused 1.5 million internally displaced persons there. Some of them are heading to Poland. The professor notes that this phenomenon has a positive impact on the Polish economy: improving economic conditions allows for the reception of tens of thousands of workers amid a constant decrease in unemployment. At the same time, Polskie Radio reminds that 150 thousand foreigners work in Poland illegally.
