As reported by Polskie Radio, now the relevant decision will be made not by the starosta, but by the voivode. At the same time, the starosta will continue to be responsible for paying social assistance.
Senator from the Law and Justice party Artur Warzocha explained this change as an optimization of the process. According to him, it is easier to control this process within 16 voivodeships than at the level of about 330 district starostas.
The new law also excludes the possibility of applying for financial assistance by persons who have received it for 9 months, i.e., the maximum period. Also, applications will not be accepted from persons who have already used social assistance as a family member of the applicant. In addition, a common register of applications, decisions and rulings on matters of providing financial assistance will be created.
Recall that at the beginning of September, amendments to the Law on the Pole's Card came into force, designed to facilitate its holders obtaining a residence permit and citizenship.
