San Francisco attracts those who consider themselves liberals twice as much as Republicans. And San Diego, once considered a stronghold of conservatism, is liked by Democrats, liberals and moderates. “Good weather and the beach trump ideology,” comments one of the authors of the poll.
As reported by Lenta.ru, about 46% of respondents want to change their environment: move from city to countryside and vice versa. Residents of American cities aged 50 to 64 are least likely to think they live in an ideal place, while two-thirds of rural dwellers in that age group, on the contrary, cannot imagine themselves anywhere else. But with young people, it’s different: 57% of city residents under 30 want to live only in the city.
Sociologists also managed to find out a few amusing details. For instance, most Americans would prefer to live in a place with more McDonald’s cafes than with more Starbucks coffee shops.
