First, the weather. According to statistics, the Canary Islands have sunshine 350 days a year, with rain only four days a year. Great, isn't it? The boundless ocean, fantastic mountains, dramatic landscape – there is no other place like it not only in Spain, but on earth. Crime is virtually non-existent in this region of Spain. Yes, there are a fair number of immigrants from Africa, but life is very calm. Locals don't even lock their doors when they go to sleep.
The Canary Islands are each unique in their own way. The most popular and famous among them is Tenerife. Here there are two airports, developed infrastructure, cheap living. On the neighboring island and also the capital of the Canary Islands - Gran Canaria - housing, food, and many other things are somewhat more expensive. Next to Tenerife there is a magical island called La Gomera. It is simply a fantastically beautiful place. Houses scattered among the rocks, pristine nature – breathtaking.
A huge plus of the Canaries is the cheapness of housing. Here are some of the lowest real estate prices in Spain. Why? These places are not in high demand by Spaniards themselves. There is little work here, so people from mainland Spain do not tend to move. But this only plays into our hands as foreigners. In the Canary Islands, even a one-bedroom apartment in a new building can be bought for 40,000 euros. And that will already be an apartment with finishing, a kitchen, good plumbing. You just bring in furniture and that's it. And a three-bedroom apartment in Tenerife with an area of 100 square meters will be 100,000 euros.
However, there are also downsides to buying property in this region of Spain. First, the Canary Islands are remote from mainland Spain and the rest of Europe. To go anywhere else, you need to buy plane tickets. Second, airfare from Russia to the Canaries themselves is the most expensive, staying at around 20,000 rubles per person. This is a significant factor if you plan, for example, to vacation here on weekends.
And finally, utility bills. On all islands, as is known, there is a shortage of water and electricity. The Canaries are no exception. Utility bills here are an order of magnitude higher than in the rest of Spain. This means that maintaining such property in Spain will cost you a pretty penny.
