Düsseldorf has the highest quality of life in Germany. This is the result of an annual study of 215 major cities around the world conducted by Mercer. Six German cities made it into the top thirty most livable cities. In the overall ranking, Düsseldorf took 6th place, Munich and Frankfurt am Main shared 7th place between them, Berlin came in 16th, Nuremberg 23rd, and Hamburg 27th.
The city with the highest quality of life, as in the previous year, remains Zurich, Switzerland. The second spot is shared by Vienna and Geneva. Third place went to Vancouver, Canada. For yet another time, the Iraqi capital Baghdad was deemed the least suitable for normal life.
As reported by Deutsche Welle, the quality of life assessment is carried out based on 39 criteria by employees of companies working abroad. The criteria include the political, economic, social, and environmental situation, personal safety, healthcare services, public transport, quality of public services, and the education system.
From a safety perspective, Luxembourg topped the ranking, second place was taken by Bern, Geneva, Helsinki, and Zurich. The assessment was based on factors such as domestic security, crime rate, and the efficiency of investigative authorities. Baghdad also occupied the last spot in this list.
