As of today, Paris has 1,466 hotels open, offering more than 76,000 rooms. In addition, there are 62 hotel residences and 4,538 apartments. The average price of a hotel room in Paris is €189 per night, which is cheaper than in London, Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam or Geneva.
In the coming years, new five-star hotels will appear in the French capital. This year alone, the opening of the Shangri La, Renaissance Arc de Triomphe and Raffles Royal Monceau hotels is planned, in 2010 - Mandarin Oriental, in 2012 - the Peninsula hotel.
According to RATA-News, representatives of the Paris Tourist Office are satisfied with last year's tourist season, but are in no hurry to draw conclusions about the intensity of tourist flow at the beginning of 2009. After all, January and February are traditionally low season, so it is too early to talk about trends. The situation will become clearer closer to the Easter holidays, by which time the number of tourists in the city increases.
