If any Dane did speak in such a vein, having seen an explicit scene on the screen featuring a "sweet couple" making love on a beach under a palm tree – then he was wrong in at least one point: no unscrupulous sharks of world capitalism had anything to do with this clip. The erotic advertisement was filmed and published by order of... the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of this peculiar campaign is quite noble – to encourage Danes to buy medical insurance before vacationing abroad.
In the advertisement, a naked beauty stands leaning against a palm tree, and behind her a man makes characteristic movements. The palm tree shakes more and more. Eventually, several coconuts fall on the couple. The episode resembles amateur video footage of a lovemaking act in nature that ended in an accident. At the end of the film, an inscription appears on the screen calling on tourists not to forget about medical insurance for foreign trips.
The head of the consular department of the Danish Foreign Ministry, Lars Thuesen, stated that such an idea came to the minds of Ministry officials not from a good life. "This film," he said, "will help attract young people and those population groups that do not visit the ministry's websites to the issue of tourist insurance."
So far, the sexy clip, already shown several times on Danish television, has not caused strong emotions or protests from the public. The fact is that it is not the first "state sex clip" in Denmark: quite recently, a police-ordered film about road safety was broadcast on public channels – with naked models advising drivers to observe speed limits within city limits. This clip, after being shown in Stockholm at a Scandinavian police symposium, provoked a sharp reaction from the Swedish authorities. So now Lars Thuesen fears, as he put it, "some screams from Sweden."
However, the Swedes in this case should not, as they say, "count their chickens before they hatch": it is a Swedish commercial (now private) video of a sexual nature that recently won the competition for the funniest advertisement in the world. In the clip, a gorgeous blonde in glasses, leaning intimately towards the driver inside the car, passionately gives a "French kiss"... to the gearshift lever. The meaning of the advertisement is simple – buy our, the best glasses – and then you are insured against such confusion.
