One of the main advantages in this case is the ability to get to the sea by car. The journey takes one day. The ability not to depend on airlines or travel agencies and to return home at any time at one's own will, according to tour operators, is one of the main factors when choosing a summer holiday option.
After citizens of Germany and Slovenia, Czech tourists are the most numerous at Croatian resorts. And in Dalmatia, for example, they are an absolute majority. Last year, Croatia was visited by 700,000 Czech holidaymakers, that is, 7% of the country's population.
With the start of hostilities, booking of places in hotels and guesthouses in Croatia practically stopped. However, their owners are optimistic: after the end of the fighting, the influx of tourists from European countries is expected to be greater than last year. Few will want to tempt fate and go to Egypt, and there are practically no those wishing to go to Turkey. Due to the continuing stagnation of the German economy, more and more German tourists are refusing expensive tours to exotic countries and prefer to vacation in the Mediterranean. However, prices in Croatia will not rise due to the expected increased demand, local travel companies assure.
The interest of Czech citizens in holidays in the Czech Republic itself is also growing. There are many famous health resorts here, national parks are famous for the beauty of their pristine nature. Rooms in hotels and mountain chalets in the Krkonoše, Lipno, and Karlovy Vary are already being actively reserved.
Due to the appreciation of the Czech crown, because of the exchange rate difference, holidays in neighboring Slovakia have become attractive. For example, if a double room in the three-star hotel Horal in the Krkonoše mountains with breakfast costs 2,869 Czech crowns (90 euros) in July, then in the High Tatras, a similar room in a hotel of the same level will cost 2,340 Slovak crowns (57 euros).
