More and more foreigners prefer to go to the Czech Republic not only for a short tourist trip but also for permanent residence
Moreover, this country has always been famous for the lowest prices in Europe compared to the service provided. Probably, immigration to the Czech Republic is therefore quite popular from all over the world – here you can earn money, have a good rest, and for knowledgeable people it will not be costly.
First, upon arrival, you will need to exchange money for local crowns. As a rule, the more prestigious the tourist spot, the less favorable the exchange rate for you. Therefore, many tourists use, so to speak, freelance money changers (but be careful – there is always a risk of fraud). You can find out the bank's rates in your own country, but we suggest paying, whenever possible, with a plastic card whose logo you can see in many drinking establishments and other venues. Many tour guides offer currency exchange; this is the safest method.
Mobile communication in the Czech Republic will be cheapest if you buy a local SIM card and insert it into your phone. It will cost about 200 crowns, which will already be on your account; the cost per minute of a call is about 8 crowns, local calls – 3. As a rule, the card has no expiry date, so you can use it for a long time, coming here periodically.
The transport system in Prague is a bit different from the Russian one, which greatly pleases residents who are on permanent residence in the Czech Republic. First of all, tickets for various types of transport come in several types. The differences lie in the duration of the trip. For example, a ticket for a 20-minute ride costs around 15 crowns, 90 minutes – about 20 crowns, and a weekly pass – up to 300 crowns. Check the prices at metro ticket offices. Such a ticket is a card that you activate each time you travel. Everywhere in ground transport and the metro there are special yellow machines that record the duration of the trip. Keep in mind – fare evaders are fined 500 crowns!
Food in Prague is quite inexpensive; for about 200 crowns you can eat and drink your fill. A very handy thing is TAX FREE – when you leave, they give you back part of the money, a deposit so to speak. For example, in large shopping centers and supermarkets there is a service: you pay 200 crowns and rent a locker for your belongings for a whole day. At the end, they return your 200 crowns. Also, if you buy goods worth more than 2000 in some stores, they will refund the taxes on them, but you need to ask for supporting documents. Then, when you are leaving for home, find the TAX FREE zone and the CASH REFUND window, where they will give you the corresponding money as taxes on the purchased goods.
