Genoese Fortress
You can get to Feodosia by the mountain road from Koktebel or by the plain road from Stary Krym. As soon as you find yourself in Feodosia, you feel the culture of the Genoese. It is represented here not only by the ruins of the Genoese Fortress, but also by many other less significant architectural monuments. Now the Genoese Fortress is not as magnificent and substantial as before, some of its elements are well preserved, others are almost completely destroyed.
Many ruins give these places a special historical romance, this impression will be one of the main ones for you during your vacation in Crimea when visiting Feodosia and nearby places. There is much here not only what remains from the Genoese, almost on every street of the city you can see something that is somehow connected with the name of Aivazovsky and other people who visited him.
Medieval buildings coexist here with newer houses, and the beach in some places changes from small pebbles to sand and then back to small pebbles. Feodosia is a cozy place that will especially appeal to people who love everything connected with art, a vacation in Crimea will become for you in this case not just swimming in the sea, but also enjoyment from gazing at many paintings, fountains, sculptures.
Another attraction of Feodosia is the Armenian church. At the end of the nineteenth century, this church was heavily damaged in a fire, but was later restored thanks to the money and efforts of Aivazovsky.
