Exotic Bora Bora Island
Bora Bora Island is a type of atoll. This is clearly visible from above. The large mountain in the center is an old extinct volcano that is gradually sinking underwater. It is surrounded by islands of coral reef. Someday Bora Bora Island will resemble typical atolls, without any mountains, only reefs, atolls, and the sea.
The island is considered the most visited tourist destination and houses some of the most expensive hotels. Moreover, Bora Bora Island is a favorite vacation spot for millionaires and is considered the most delightful island on Earth. It is a fairy-tale world of purest turquoise lagoons, coral reefs, and white sandy beaches, located in the South Pacific Ocean.
In the Soviet press, information often appeared that France had once again successfully conducted nuclear tests in French Polynesia on the Mururoa Atoll. And in geography lessons, we would run to the political map and look for where French Polynesia and the unfortunate Mururoa Atoll were, where such terrible tests were taking place. Nuclear tests have not been conducted in Polynesia for a long time, and the radiation levels are perfectly normal.
Ancient Polynesians believed that atolls were fish. God pulled them out of the ocean to give the Polynesians a place to live. The island is framed by many motu islets that formed as a result of the uplift of coral reefs. Most of the islets are completely uninhabited.
Cousteau once said that the waters of the Bora Bora lagoon have a greater diversity of marine fauna than anywhere else. Let's take his word for it, since the popular attraction for tourists and divers, feeding barracudas and sharks, as well as a large concentration of rays and manta rays, is found precisely there. Everyone knows sharks are dangerous, but diving with them is incredibly interesting.
All infrastructure, namely the post office, banks, gendarmerie, medical facilities, school, shopping centers, and government authorities, are located in Vaitape. The population lives only on the coast of the main island, and its central part is hard to reach. The interior areas of the island can only be explored by off-road vehicles. Local residents are mostly employed in the tourism service sector.
Stevenson, author of "Treasure Island," who lived and died in Polynesia, wrote about Polynesians: "They are, if not the best, then at least the kindest creatures of God." And to this we can add that French Polynesia and Bora Bora Island are the best place for a vacation.
